We Give Together is a community of people who are committed to meaningful change in hard places. Everyone involved gives. Everyone receives. Together, we are seeking to address a fundamental challenge: underinvestment in places where ministry is needed most. Locally-founded, locally-led, “off the grid” ministries offer profound possibilities for meaningfully impacting a world that is increasingly contested, uncertain, and conflict prone.

We recognize the inherent risks associated with off the grid ministries in hard places. By leveraging trust, emphasizing relationships and pursuing key strategies such as context-relevant coaching and apprenticing, we believe signifiant risk can be mitigated.

SMALL IS BIG.

The best local ministries are innovative, resilient and catalytic, with no less commitment to excellence than their international peers. They pursue word and deed together, integrating compassionate action with verbal witness as modeled by Jesus. They serve people where others cannot, often multiplying through influence rather than building cost-intensive structures. For them, small is big.

Call it the power of aggregation. Or the principle of five loaves and two fish. Or the mustard seed.

The best of the small is still rare, however. Ministries in hard places are often stretched operationally and under-capitalized, receiving only a sliver of direct global funding, as little as 2 to 4 percent. Why? Philanthropy lacks courage, favoring international organizations in safer contexts while overlooking many local ministries who are leading impactful journeys of change.

THREE PROMISES.

We Give Together offers three promises to its partners: capital, capacity and community. Philanthropic funding, or capital, is offered within the context of prayer and relationship, with a vision toward stewarding trust and wisdom. Capacity focuses on sourcing local, or near culture, coaching in specific areas as identified by local leaders, a feature that distinguishes us from other philanthropic initiatives. Community refers to investing in the relationships between organizations locally while emphasizing formation for everyone involved. We offer these commitments with humility, recognizing our friends on the front lines have much to teach us. We are indebted to trusted advisors who bring deep experience, some of whom will provide coaching to frontline ministries while others will advise on ministry sourcing, portfolio selection and coaching strategies.
